Ski vacations

Over Thanksgiving weekend or during a Christmas break, thousands of people head for the mountains in search of ski vacations. Summer might be the usual time for vacation, but the winter can get a little long. Students need a break from studying and working adults need a change of pace. What better solution for cabin fever is there than a cabin in the woods?

Ski vacations can be tailored to nearly anyone's adventure and budget preference. If money is not an issue, you can travel to ski resorts all over the country and all over the world, depending on the skiing (or snowboarding) conditions you prefer. After long (or short) days on the slopes, the warm lodges are waiting for you with hot drinks and good company. A medium budget will still take you to several high quality resorts, as they are scattered all over the country. You will probably spend a little more time speeding down the mountain to get the most out of whatever time you are able to spend on vacation. If you are on a very low budget, don't worry. There are ski vacations for you too. If you live close enough, you might just visit a resort for a day to avoid hotel costs. For the more adventurous and warm-blooded, there are often places to camp fairly near to the resorts. If even the lift ticket is too steep, drive to the nearest mountain in a national or state park with your own or rented equipment and do without the lift. You'll definitely get more exercise, but homemade ski vacations are just as enjoyable as the store bought variety.

There are all types of ski vacations. They can be custom made to fit any personality and any budget. Whether you would rather have all the comforts of home or would prefer to avoid the crowds, there is a snowy mountain for you. Whenever your winter break comes, just remember that vacations don't have to happen just in the summer. So, get out and enjoy the snow!
