Vacations in Maine
Many people go on vacation in the off season. They go to hot places in the summer and to cold places in the winter in order to avoid the crowds. For most locations, that works. The discomfort is minor and the trade off is great. In most places it doesn't really matter what time of year it is. The views are always beautiful and the options for things to do are always varied and interesting. Some places, however, are visited for very specific reasons. Vacations in Maine, for example, should always happen in the fall.
Maine is widely known for two things. The first is the seafood and especially lobster. The second are the trees. Trees are at their most beautiful, full of fiery color, in the autumn. As you move west, the trees become sparser and fewer are deciduous. As you move northeast, however, the trees become more densely packed. People who live in Maine look forward to the bountiful display of color every year. Vacations in Maine are centered on the same event. Of course, there are other things to do on vacations in Maine than to look at the trees, but why not do those other things with the accompaniment of intense beauty? In the same way, vacations in Maine are made lovelier because of the seafood. Just imagine topping off a chilly fall day spent amidst the great splendor of the trees with a hot, steamy bowl of lobster bisque.
Just as it must be spring before nature can come back to life, vacations in Maine simply must happen in the fall. And since fall happens at roughly the same time every year, such a vacation can be planned well in advance. Also, if you find fall approaching and are ready for a vacation, go to Maine, you will never forget it.
